X-Plane is a realistic flight simulation that supports 3D terrain and
elevation maps. It includes a physics modeler that can simulate various
weather conditions, as well as advanced technologies such as dynamic
speech synthesis; hardware-accelerated, texture-mapped graphics; OpenGL
support (see card requirements below); serial-port output to drive
cockpit instruments; motion systems; and moving maps. Other features
include a variety of runway surfaces, oil rigs with helipads, and full
rendering of other air traffic for formation flying. Cockpit textures,
plane textures, and sounds are all customizable. The latest version
features newly customizable visual support, flight model improvements,
new instruments, bug fixes, and much more.
